TL;DR
Google Meet's AI Note-Taker: “Take notes for me” auto-summarizes meetings into a Google Doc, letting you focus without frantic typing.
Limited to English and Select Users: Available only for Google Workspace customers with the Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons.
Benefits with Quirks: Great for productivity, but expect occasional hilarious mix-ups as the AI learns.
Estimated reading time: 3 - 4 minutes.
Hey there!
We’ve all been there: sitting through yet another marathon video call.
Trying to keep up with the conversation while taking notes, replying to emails, and if you’re really ambitious… eating lunch without dropping crumbs on your keyboard.

It’s a juggling act that would make a circus performer proud.
But Google Meet’s new AI-powered note-taking feature, “take notes for me,” promises to ease the burden.
No shorthand skills or superhuman concentration required!
The Struggle with Multitasking in Meetings
Let’s be honest. For most of us, multitasking during meetings isn’t a choice… it’s a necessity.
Trying to listen, capture every important point, and contribute meaningfully while preparing for the next task on the list?
That’s a formula that spells burnout.
And those notes? They often look like a mix of typos and shorthand hieroglyphics that only you can (barely) decipher.
Some common struggles people face in meetings include:
Pretending to Take Notes:
Sure, you’re typing away, but are those notes or just the lyrics to your favorite song?
Opening Multiple Tabs:
One tab for the meeting, another for reference documents, and a few more for “quick research” (okay, maybe a sneaky glance at social media).
Looking Distracted or Zoning Out:
Even the best of us zone out occasionally. One moment you’re listening intently, the next you’re daydreaming about dinner plans or why cats always land on their feet.
How Google Meet’s AI Can Help You Stay on Track
This is where Google Meet’s AI note-taker steps in.
It’s designed to do the heavy lifting for you by summarizing key points from the meeting.

It turns them into a concise Google Doc, which attaches itself to your calendar event.
Now, instead of frantically typing notes and missing half of what's said, you can stay fully engaged in the conversation, knowing that the AI has your back.
Running late to a meeting? No worries.
The AI will send you a summary of what you missed.
You can quickly catch up and participate without feeling lost.
It's like having a meeting buddy who never zones out, never gets distracted, and always takes perfect notes—if only it could also make coffee!

The Limitations
Now, before you get too excited, a couple of things to note: this feature is currently only available in English.
And it is limited to Google Workspace customers with the Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons.
Even after the full rollout, these restrictions will remain in place.
So, if you’re in that exclusive club, congrats!
If not, you may have to wait a bit longer or look for other note-taking solutions.
Of course, this AI isn’t flawless.

There’s always a chance it might get things hilariously wrong.
I remember using an auto-transcription tool that turned “marketing strategy” into “Mark is stretchy”.
(Or maybe my pronunciation is just bad).
But overall, the potential benefits are huge.
If you’ve ever struggled to keep up with the pace of meetings, this tool could be a godsend.
It allows you to focus more on the discussion and less on trying to be a superhuman note-taker.
Give It a Try
So, if you’re already in the Google Meet ecosystem with the right add-ons, this feature is worth exploring.
It might just help you reclaim a bit of sanity in your meeting-filled day, freeing up brain space for things that really matter… like contributing your best ideas or, at the very least, not accidentally agreeing to tasks you didn’t catch.
And remember, like all AI tools, this is just the beginning. As the technology learns and adapts, it will only get better at capturing those critical points.
So, why not get on board early?
After all, today’s quirky AI quirks are just tomorrow’s success stories in the making.
See you in the next one,
Aaron
