Netflix just built an AI that doesn’t fix what you see.

It fixes what should have happened.

The moment current tools break

Picture this.

A person is holding a balloon. You remove the person.

The balloon stays exactly where it was. No drift. No movement. No change.

Because the model did its job:

  • the person is gone

  • the background is filled

And that’s it.

The scene looks fine. The logic is broken.

Most AI video tools clean up pixels. They don’t understand cause and effect.

What Netflix actually built

Netflix’s new framework, VOID, approaches this differently.

You remove an object, and the system asks:

  • what else was affected?

  • what would move?

  • what changes as a result?

Then it rebuilds the scene so everything still makes sense.

Not just visually. Logically.

Under the hood, it maps out the chain reaction across the frame, then generates a new version of the video where those consequences play out naturally.

It was designed around “what if” scenarios where removing something forces the rest of the scene to behave differently.

So instead of guessing what looks right, it learns what should happen next.
